Description

The field of type design has been traditionally highly dominated by men. However, there have been women that created significant work–but they are rarely mentioned in histories of the subject.

The objective of this wall calendar is to raise awareness on gender imbalance in typography by shining light on typefaces designed by female type designers.

Included are typefaces of female type designers that worked predominantly in the 20th century. It should be added that this project is not aiming to provide a collection of the most influential female type designers nor to evaluate their work. The last two spreads of the calendar provide further information on the type designers and their typefaces. 

In reference to the well known Pirelli Calendar, the typeface used for side infos is the Pirelli typeface designed by Jung-Lee type foundry.
